What is Hobbies+?
Hobbies+ is an app for finding and joining real-world activities based on your hobbies. Whether you're into sport, board games, art, or anything in between - you can discover events near you, meet people with the same interests, and build a social circle around the things you actually enjoy
Is Hobbies+ free?
Yes, Hobbies+ is free to download and use. There are no subscription fees for joining or creating activities
Which platforms is it available on?
Hobbies+ is available on iOS (App Store) and Android (Google Play). The current version is in beta testing on both platforms
How do I find activities near me?
Open the app and browse the Activities tab. You'll see upcoming activities nearby, grouped by status (hosting, joined, waitlisted, other). Use the filters to narrow down by distance, date, created by friends, your interests or category
Can I create my own activity?
Yes. Tap the Create button, choose your hobby, set the date, location, and capacity. The app generates a title for you automatically. You can also set a skill level (Beginner, Casual, or Competitive) and make the activity female-only
What happens if an activity is full?
You can join the waitlist. If a spot opens up - because someone leaves - you'll be offered the spot automatically, on a first-in, first-served basis
Can I reserve a spot for someone?
Yes. As a host, tap 'Reserve a spot' on your activity to hold a space for someone who hasn't joined yet. Choose 'Friend on Hobbies+' to pick a friend from your list - they receive an activity invite automatically and the spot is held for them. If they don't join, the spot is released 24 hours before the activity starts. Choose 'Guest' for someone not on the app yet and share the link with them so they can download Hobbies+ and join - guest spots are never auto-released. Reservations appear in the participants list and count toward total capacity. Hosts can remove any reservation; participants can only remove ones they created themselves.
What is women-only?
A women-only activity is an option only female users have. Such an activity is only joinable by other female users
Can I see which of my contacts are on Hobbies+?
Yes. Hobbies+ can import your phone contacts (with your permission) and show you which ones already have an account. You can see their hobby profiles and send them a friend request directly
What can I see on a friend's profile?
You can see which hobbies they've listed, the activities they've hosted or joined, and your shared interests. It's a lightweight social profile built around what you both enjoy doing
How do I add friends?
You can add friends from an activity you both joined, from the contacts import, or by sharing your Friend Code. Once you send a request and they accept, you'll appear in each other's friends list
What is a Friend Code?
Your Friend Code is a unique identifier in the format FirstName#XXXX - for example, Zac#H4KR. You can find yours on your profile page and share it with anyone so they can add you directly, without needing to be in the same activity or have your phone number. You can regenerate your code at any time from your profile
Can I see which friends are going to an activity before I join?
Yes. On any activity card, you'll see avatars of friends who are already going. This makes it easy to decide whether to join based on who will be there
Does each activity have a group chat?
Yes. Every activity has a dedicated group chat. Only confirmed participants can send messages. Once you leave an activity, the chat becomes read-only so you can still see the history
What notifications does Hobbies+ send?
You'll receive notifications for friend requests, activity updates (changes to time, location, or capacity), new messages in your activity chats, and reminders before an activity starts
How do reminders work?
Each activity gives you a customisable reminder. The default is 1 hour before the activity starts, but you can change it to whatever works for you - or turn it off entirely
How do alerts work?
You can create one alert per hobby, by selecting the distance to be notified. Once an activity for that hobby is created, by anyone, within the distance you set, you will get notified so you can be one of the first to join. You can delete, edit, or disable these alerts
How is my data used?
Your data is used only to power the app experience - finding relevant activities, connecting with friends, and sending notifications. We don't sell personal data or use it for advertising
Can I block someone?
Yes. You can block any user from their profile. Blocked users cannot see your activities, join activities you've created, or contact you. You may however join the same activity created by someone else
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account directly from the app: go to your Profile → Delete Account, confirm with a one-time password, and the deletion is processed immediately. All personal data is removed from active systems. Full removal from backups may take up to 30 days. Full account deletion guide →
